Cat. #0019833: MONROE OWSLEY

Highly scarce pencil signature on a 4x6-inch pale green autograph album page, acquired in-person in the early 1930s. In good condition, with a few surface crinkles. Juvenile stage and film actor Monroe Owsley famously repeated his Broadway role as Ned, heroine Linda Seton's inebriated younger brother, in the movie version of Philip Barry's Holiday (1930). Thereafter, he was typecast as a dissipated, often debauched young playboy, seldom garbed in anything other than a bathrobe or smoking jacket. Of particular note were his performances in Ten Cents a Dance (1931), Indiscreet (1931) and Ex-Lady (1933).  The star died tragically from a heart attack suffered during a car accident, aged only 36 years, and his autograph is virtually non-existent in any format.
